“2024 was a defining year for Lesotho – celebrating 200 years of nationhood and beginning the UN Cooperation Framework. Guided by the legacy of King Moshoeshoe I, we advanced peace, unity and inclusion, built systems for accountability, empowered youth, responded to climate and food insecurity, and strengthened health and education. Together, we remain committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for all Basotho – Khotso, Pula, le Nala.”

Welcome to the UN in Lesotho 2024 Results Report

Throughout 2024, the United Nations in Lesotho worked closely with the Government of Lesotho to reach communities across the country and reinforce efforts to advance sustainable and inclusive development. This section highlights key achievements and lessons from the first year of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CF).

The year 2024 marked a defining milestone for Lesotho, celebrating 200 years since its founding under the national theme “Birth, Reflection, Revival.” The bicentennial commemorations, supported by the United Nations, created space to honour Lesotho’s history, reflect on its journey, and reaffirm a collective commitment to a more prosperous future for all Basotho. This historic moment coincided with the first year of implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2024–2028) – Ka Lebelo La Ntsoekhe, which serves as a strategic blueprint for accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Together, the Government and the United Nations undertook concrete actions in communities across Lesotho, strengthening national systems, supporting vulnerable populations, and advancing inclusive growth, laying a strong foundation for the years ahead under the Cooperation Framework.
